National Broadband Network

A Special note for NBN connections: We are compiling a list of customers who are requesting NBN connections, please send us your details using the form below and we will add you to our NBN customer list, then we will keep you informed of connection date developments in your area. We suggest reading the linked articles for background information and suggest you check the NBN roll-out map. Please consider getting your premises "NBN Ready" with one of our cabling networks so you will get the full benefit from your future NBN service.

The National Broadband Network (NBN) is currently being rolled out around Australia. Dataphone is a contractor to Silcar Communications for implementation of the NBN.

In practical terms the NBN will provide data-speeds 10 times (or higher) than what is currently available on the copper networks ADSL2+ services. This will bring upload and download speeds up to 100kb / second with potential to go much faster in the future. The fixed wireless and satellite service will also reach speeds of 25kb/sec download which is currently faster than most ADSL2+ services.

The NBN high speed services will exceed the capabilities of older cabling networks and modem based Wi-Fi systems, so to get the full benefit from the NBN you will need an internal cabling network that meets structured cabling standards and is installed by accredited master cablers, especially where multiple devices are accessing the network. Dataphone provides verification of speeds by testing the cabling networks that we install and provide you with a copy of the testing reports to ensure that we meet the highest standards so you will get the most out of your current ADSL connection and so you are NBN ready.

In most cases high quality internal copper cabling will meet these higher bandwidth requirements when installed professionally. There will be certain industries and building designs where we may recommend the installation of internal fibre networks to meet the specific needs of your industry.

Please have a look at the links for an overview of the benefits of the NBN and to see when your area will be receiving NBN optic fibre services by clicking on the NBN roll-out map link.
